A B O U T M E I am news editor of Kable, part of the Guardian Professional business-to-business division of Guardian News & Media. My main job is running the Kablenet.com news service, which also provides the news for GC (Government Computing) and Smart Healthcare. I also run the free GC Weekly email newsletter - sign up here. A note to public relations professionals (April 2008) In both this job and my previous one at Infosecurity magazine, I've been surprised at how many calls we receive/received from PR people asking for routine information, and how often the wrong routine information is quoted. In particular, this concerns features lists and contact details. At Kable and at Infosecurity, the correct data was and is on the organisation's own website, and NOT on a third-party database. In the experience of my former and current colleagues and I, these databases are very often inaccurate, sometimes egregiously so - I was once contacted about an article which was completed a year previously. It's easy to get the right information. To contact me, the details are always at this website on the left (the first email address for direct work messages, the second for press releases, the third for personal queries only). The GC forward features list is here, the Smart Healthcare list is here, and for that matter the Infosecurity list is here. At all three magazines, article synopses are not published, so please don't ask. I am always very happy to receive emails and press releases, although for the latter please use the gc email address, where they are seen by all Kable journalists, not just me.
